This is an exciting moment in the life of Floater, my first novel. On June 20, 2018, I signed a contract with a publishing company to self-publish this book. I will be doing most of the legwork in the area of marketing and promotions, but they will print and deliver all books and most importantly, they will get my book on Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com and all of the other big online booksellers. Plus, copies of Floater will be available for purchase on my website, https://johannauribes.com
Also watch for upcoming book launch party details in the Autumn. Floater is slated for release right before the holidays and as it would just be so cool, I am hoping for a Halloween release party. So far, I’m looking at a few locations, one in San Francisco and two on the peninsula – San Carlos and Redwood City, details for both to follow.
Here’s a teaser
Floater: The Story of the Heart Brand Murders
At seventeen, her mother is brutally murdered. Jaz barely survives the trial and execution of the killer but forces herself to witness both.
New Year’s Day,thirteen years later, Jaz, a San Francisco native and writer who enjoys taking photographs, has her camera in hand. Shooting urban graffiti, a tense man appears in her viewfinder. Taking out his phone, he makes a call, wipes off the phone and throws it into a trash can. Standing in front of a motorcycle repair shop in the Tenderloin, he’s on high alert. Jaz hears sirens and turns to look. When she looks back he’s walking away. Catching up to him, she sees the arm of a dead woman next to the motorcycle tire. Who was she and more importantly, where is her violent ex-boyfriend, Ron?
Days later, the picture file she’s hoping for opens on her laptop, Motorcycle guy. This image places him at the murder scene, but something about him prevents Jaz from sending her photograph to the police. Hiring a private investigator, Jaz emails her photo. Using information from the PI, she follows Luc, the mysterious man in her photograph, to the gym and confronts him. He tells Jaz the dead woman was his girlfriend. He received a message, telling him to be at that address, on that day.
Is Luc really getting these messages or is he the killer? He’s about to receive another message…or is he about to kill again?
Who really did it? You won’t have to wait much longer to find out. Watch for the release of Floater, coming soon to booksellers everywhere.
